Burgess & Niple (B&N) served as the civil engineering consultant for development of Riverside Corporate Center, which consists of more than 700,000 square feet of office space. In addition, B&N provided major improvements and relocation of the roadway network and utility systems serving both the 60-acre site and an existing 220-unit residential area.
To adequately serve both the proposed office park and the existing residential community, it was necessary to upgrade and renovate the existing City of Norfolk Pumping Station No. 92. This included a condition survey and upgrade of motors, pumps, and controls. Approximately 2,700 linear feet of 6-inch force main was replaced with 8-inch force main.
Project features included:
B&N provided construction plans for a 900-car parking lot, Corporate Boulevard, a divided four-lane superelevated highway, and connecting roadways. Plans were prepared for addition of a traffic lane on U.S. Route 58, a semicircle traffic intersection, turn lanes, and an acceleration lane. B&N was responsible for contract administration and complete construction layout services.
