B&N served as the engineering consultant for park design improvements to Great Falls Nike Park, a 45-acre complex located on the site of a former Nike Missile Base in Great Falls, Virginia. From 2000 through 2014, B&N completed multiple projects at the park such as athletic field improvements, road and parking upgrades, trails, stormwater management/Best Management Practices (BMP) design, and landscape architecture.

The Great Falls Nike Park complex includes:

  • Three Little League baseball fields
  • A Babe Ruth baseball field
  • A fast-pitch softball field
  • Three soccer fields and two tennis courts
  • 2,500 linear feet of access road and 5,000 feet of trail
  • Parking for 430 vehicles

Under contract with the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA), B&N was responsible for site plan preparation, details, cost estimating, permitting, surveying, geotechnical, and construction-phase services. B&N coordinated meetings and stakeholder input during the design process and also provided bidding assistance and contract administration.

Working in conjunction with the FCPA, the Great Falls Little League and other local community groups, the project included the design of multiple playing fields, all of which are irrigated and served by state-of-the art tower lighting. Special park features were added including fencing and bleachers, irrigation, lighting, and a trail system.
