Burgess & Niple (B&N) was selected for an open-end architectural and engineering services contract for the Monongahela National Forest. This annual contract was renewed for a second year. Scope of work included civil, electrical, sanitary, and mechanical engineering; surveying; inspections; and landscape architecture.
B&N recommended the design of a cable-suspended wooden pedestrian bridge to cross the Greenbriar River. Recognition of forest aesthetics in designing the bridge was critical. Services included bridge design, a hydraulic study of the bridge waterway, and preparation of all bridge details and calculations for the proposed 150-foot-long suspension bridge. B&N also performed a site survey, utilizing data collector technology, and conducted a geotechnical site assessment for the bridge.
