COLUMBUS, Ohio – The West Virginia American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) presented Burgess & Niple with the top awards in two categories of the Engineering Excellence competition. Corridor D Section 6 received the Gold Award in the Transportation-Highway category and the Parkersburg Utility Board Water and Wastewater Project received the Gold Award in the Water and Wastewater category.
B&N designed and prepared construction plans and related documents for Section 6 of the Appalachian Corridor D Highway for the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT). The primary objective of the Appalachian Corridor D Highway is to stimulate economic development in the Parkersburg/Belpre area. Increased access and mobility will help the area achieve its development potential by attracting new investment and corporate interest. Additionally, the new corridor provides a safer alternative for motorists and reduces heavy traffic volumes.
B&N completed a $9 million Water and Wastewater Improvements Project for the Parkersburg Utility Board (PUB) that provides improved levels of service to the area’s 15,700 customers. Many of the facilities utilized to provide water and wastewater service to area customers were in need of significant repair or replacement. The PUB and B&N launched a major planning effort to identify where improvements were necessary and to assure that improvements would meet the demands of future conditions.
