Better Tomorrow Engineering Scholarship

We are excited to offer four $2,500 Burgess & Niple Better Tomorrow Engineering Scholarships for the 2026-2027 school year! These scholarships aim to support students interested in Creating a Better Tomorrow for communities across the country and around the world through the field of engineering.

To be eligible, students must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Student is pursuing a Civil, Structural or Environmental degree from an ABET-accredited university in Arizona, Florida, Ohio or Texas.
  • Student is a resident of Arizona, Florida, Ohio or Texas and is pursuing a Civil, Structural or Environmental degree from any ABET-accredited university.

This scholarship is open to applicants who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. Please note that our company is not able to provide immigration-related employment benefits, such as visa sponsorship. We appreciate your interest and encourage eligible students to apply!

Applications and required documents must be submitted by 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, March 08, 2026. Virtual interviews will be held via Teams between April 06-10, 2026. Scholarship winners will be notified via email on April 22, 2026, and will be invited to attend an award presentation at a Burgess & Niple office.

Application and Selection Process

The online application must be completed and submitted in a single session. The application and required documents must be received by the application deadline of 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, March 08, 2026. B&N’s internal Scholarship Board will review all scholarship applications using the following Judging Criteria:

  • Essay 40%: Responses must address the given essay topics and explain the applicant’s future education plans and career goals. Grammar and content organization will be taken into consideration.
  • Merit 25%: Academic performance; internship, co-op and/or work experience in the engineering field; and a letter of recommendation.
  • Leadership 15%: Extracurricular activities, community service/volunteer experience, and technical or professional organization involvement.
  • Interview 20%: Teams virtual interview

Providing Required Documents

After completing and submitting the online application, Burgess & Niple will review your submission and send you a confirmation email. This email will contain a link to a secure network location where you can upload the required documentation for review. Rest assured that all information will be kept confidential, and your application, along with supporting documents, will only be reviewed by the B&N Scholarship Board. The following documents will need to be provided:

  • Copy of Transcript
  • Resume
  • Letter of recommendation written by a professor/teacher, mentor, employer, or other person who has been involved in your pursuit of a career in the engineering field.
