Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming solid waste management. AI-powered robots and machines can identify, sort and separate waste materials more accurately than manual sorting. AI algorithms also optimize collection routes by analyzing waste generation patterns and traffic conditions, saving time and fuel and reducing emissions. This session begins with an accessible AI 101 overview explaining how large language models and other tools work and how to write effective prompts.

Then, AI 201 focuses on applying generative assistants and predictive analytics to tasks like drafting reports and forecasting waste trends. We emphasize responsible use, data privacy and regulatory compliance.
