The United States is on the precipice of a major shift in traffic safety, moving away from individual blame to a more holistic, systems-based approach. The Safe System Approach (SSA) is the future, but is your agency ready to embrace it?

In this interactive workshop, we'll explore a practical framework to assess your agency’s readiness to adopt the SSA principles. Drawing on real-world lessons from Clackamas County, Oregon, we’ll share key steps, challenges and successes from our own journey, moving the concept of SSA from theory into practice.

You’ll gain tools to conduct an agency readiness audit, whether with outside support or internally. We will cover:

  • Understanding the Core Principles: What does "Safe System" mean for your agency?
  • A Proven Blueprint: Learn from our work plan.
  • Conducting Your Own Audit: A step-by-step guide to assess your agency's policies, culture and practices.
  • Turning Insights into Action: Translate audit results into a roadmap for change.

This workshop is designed for traffic safety professionals and leaders ready to champion the SSA within their agency.
