Designing multimodal facilities involves addressing challenges such as ensuring accessibility, managing costs and minimizing environmental impacts. Innovative applications of drone technology and GIS software offer solutions to these obstacles, enabling the creation of well-thought-out, cost-effective facilities. This presentation will demonstrate how ArcGIS, drones and advanced positioning tools have been successfully applied to projects for clients such as the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and the Cities of Donnelly and Nampa, Idaho.

By integrating modern technology with established roadway and bridge design practices, it is possible to create cost-effective, constructible projects that optimize user experience. This approach also minimizes environmental impacts by preserving trees and waterways and accurately identifying obstacles and utilities without requiring a full survey. Attendees will gain practical insights into how emerging technologies can streamline design processes and improve project outcomes.
