A reliable water source in volumes that can meet a growing facility’s needs has rapidly become a key decision-maker for industries looking for a home across the country. Ohio’s access to abundant water resources makes it a desirable location for such development. However, limitations in Ohio’s current capacity to access, treat, and distribute these water resources to development sites have hindered the ability to capture many growth opportunities. Adding to this is the uncertainty of a changing climate and how it will impact our water supply.

Wastewater Reuse is one method to help communities overcome the rapid growth in water demands in a sustainable manner. This presentation will review the history of wastewater reuse, where the applications for wastewater reuse are currently in use and its potential for growth through the beneficial reuse of sanitary wastewater. The presentation will discuss the current and potential gaps in our current regulatory environment and what designers and operators need to be aware of when it comes to the ultimate implementation of a wastewater reuse system that may be considered for their community.
