Central Bank Center Lexington, Kentucky

The long-held belief for the residents of Mayfield, Kentucky, was that their two-lane bypass around the eastern side of the city was going to be widened to five lanes. When the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) built the bypass in the late 90s, excess right-of-way was purchased to facilitate that eventual "full build". In 2023, B&N was selected to assist KYTC in addressing congestion and safety concerns along the corridor. B&N's analysis of the existing traffic and safety trends determined that additional lanes should not be recommended, and that innovative intersections would prevent more fatal and serious injuries from occurring along KY 121. The recommended alternative is fully aligned with the Safe System Approach in delivering a Safer Road, promote Safer Speeds and encourage Safer Road Users.
