The Clark County-Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee (CCSTCC) embarked on an innovative project to enhance safety, efficiency and mobility by identifying optimal locations for single-lane roundabouts across Clark County. Leveraging advanced geospatial statistical analysis and publicly available GIS data, the team developed a prioritized "Top 50" list of intersections for future project development. Key screening criteria and a weighted ranking system were used to analyze intersections dynamically, allowing for real-time scenario adjustments and consistently highlighting priority intersections. Public feedback about concerning intersections was collected using Survey123 through an interactive project Hub Site. The team used qualitative data analysis methods to extract actionable insights from this survey to ensure that community input was integral to the decision-making process.
This session will detail the system-wide approach employed to prioritize intersections, highlighting how geospatial analysis and community engagement can be combined effectively. Attendees will gain insights into our process for swiftly narrowing down thousands of potential sites to a focused list of high-impact improvements.
