This stone arch bridge carries vehicle and pedestrian traffic over the Tuscarora Creek in downtown Martinsburg, West Virginia, which survived the Civil War when the confederate forces destroyed the adjacent Colonnade Railroad Bridge. This presentation will share several alternatives for renovation or replacement, followed by a detailed discussion of the selected concrete strengthening arch and arch barrel restoration. We’ll also share some of the challenges faced for foundation support and changes made during construction.
