Transportation Research Board Webinar Visit Event Website

Wednesday, June 26
2:00-3:30 PM (EST)

An increasing number of states are utilizing Diverging Diamond Interchanges (DDIs) to potentially solve their congestion and safety hotspots. Research is now underway to determine how states may apply DDIs in specific situations.

This webinar will discuss previous and current research into DDIs. The presenters will tie this research into the design phase to show how DDIs may be implemented and describe some of the lessons learned by practitioners. At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the intent and safety benefits of DDIs
  • Describe DDIs’ effects on operations and costs
  • Apply DDI design and planning elements while improving on existing practices

B&N’s Brian Toombs will join Bastian Schroeder from Kittelson & Associates, Inc. and Praveen Edara from the University of Missouri at Columbus to present this session that was organized by the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Geometric Design.
