Workshops

Join a team of Asset Management experts for a workshop on pipeline rehabilitation and replacement (R&R) planning approaches. The presenters, including B&N’s Kevin Campanella, will focus on the benefits of using advanced R&R approaches and how to obtain the necessary data.

Buried pipes constitute approximately two thirds of the value of a water system’s assets. To manage these linear assets utilities need robust programs. Attendees will learn how to use the approaches that are presented to obtain pipeline inspection and rehabilitation forecasts that range from analytically basic to advanced.

To create these forecasts, the right data must be mined from utility databases, cleaned up, and formatted. By increasing the right type of data, a utility can apply more sophisticated approaches to help increase forecast accuracy. Attendees will learn what data is needed, how to prepare it, and various analytical approaches that can be used to analyze it.

Professional Session

In 2015, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Asset Management Committee conducted a national survey to solicit information from water utilities about their progress in implementing asset management practices. After collecting the data, the AWWA Asset Management Survey Subcommittee, chaired by B&N’s Kevin Campanella, produced an industry report that appears on the AWWA website and was summarized in the January edition of the AWWA Journal.

Using data collected from the survey, the report titled, “Business Practices to Help Utilities Better Manage Assets,” describes best practices that utilities can use to improve their asset management strategies and overall utility performance. Join Kevin, other AWWA Asset Management Survey Subcommittee members, and some leading practice utilities for a presentation of the survey’s key findings as noted in the report.
