Burgess & Niple is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) to join our Texas Transportation team in Austin or San Antonio as a Roadway Engineer. This position provides the opportunity to lead and coordinate challenging transportation engineering projects with TxDOT, counties, and local agencies in the areas of highway and roadway design, complete streets, and active transportation (e.g. bicycle and pedestrian facilities).

B&N Roadway Engineer Responsibilities

  • Actively participate and/or lead in the planning and design of roadway and transportation engineering projects for public agencies including TxDOT, counties, authorities and municipalities
  • Create an exemplary client experience throughout the project delivery 
  • Develop roadway, bicycle, and pedestrian design layouts, models, plan sheets, cost estimates, exhibits, and technical reports
  • Maintain quality control of the work products and successfully complete projects on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with other leaders throughout the firm on project pursuits and technical challenges 
  • Opportunity to provide training, coaching, and mentoring for developing staff
  • Opportunity to develop project management skills including monitoring relevant performance indicators, budgets and schedules

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program 
  • Texas PE registration, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and roadway engineering software (e.g. MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team environment
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to evolving client, project, and industry needs
