As an industry leader of innovative design, Burgess & Niple routinely studies and implements the latest transportation solutions for our clients and is looking for an entry level Traffic Engineer to join our growing team in Tempe, AZ.

What a Traffic Engineer job is all about:

  • You have the opportunity to be part of a project team, collaborating and learning from experienced PEs & PTOEs and be mentored by industry leaders in transportation
  • You’ll grow and develop skills including traffic engineering and analysis, technical design and project management and leadership skills
  • You will support experienced engineers on transportation projects, including traffic modeling and analysis, safety analysis, traffic forecasting, and traffic designs for signals and signing.
  • Responsibilities could include stakeholder engagement, analysis, developing plans, document writing and client interactions

What you need to make an impact:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited civil engineering program, December 2023 graduates are encouraged to apply
  • 0 - 2 years of related civil engineering experience
  • EI/EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months and a desire and ability to ultimately become a PE
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Familiarity with traffic software such as HCS, Synchro, and crash analysis tools is desired but not required. Experience with VISSIM, MicroStation or AutoCAD is a plus
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, including the capability to learn virtual collaboration tools
