Come work with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that value employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our team in Charleston.

B&N Environmental Scientist Responsibilities

  • Conduct CWA Section 404/401 permitting
  • Prepare WVDEP General Stormwater Permits with erosion and sediment control plans
  • Prepare NEPA documentation and supporting studies for civil engineering projects
  • Conduct ecological field surveys (wetland delineations, stream assessments, and habitat evaluations) and associated reporting
  • Assist with design, specification and cost estimates for various projects
  • Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, government regulations and industry standards
  • Coordinate with governmental agencies, railroads, and utilities companies for project needs
  • Out of town/state travel may be required throughout the U.S.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in the field of Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related
  • 2+ years of related environmental/ecological field survey and permitting experience; stream/wetland delineation experience is preferred
  • Microsoft Office experience required, prior experience with ArcGIS
  • Excellent communication skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain
  • Ability to travel, including overnight stays
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
