Burgess & Niple is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead complex technical projects from planning through delivery, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, client communication, risk, and cross-functional coordination.

B&N Senior Technical Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical projects through all phases, including planning, design coordination, execution, monitoring, closeout, and client delivery.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk, quality, and change control.
  • Coordinate internal technical teams, engineers, designers, consultants, vendors, contractors, and client stakeholders.
  • Translate client objectives and technical requirements into actionable project plans.
  • Review technical project information for completeness, coordination, constructability, and alignment with project goals.
  • Facilitate project meetings, prepare agendas, document decisions, track action items, and communicate project status to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks early and develop mitigation plans to protect schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Support proposal development, project planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and resource forecasting.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, billings, and change orders.
  • Ensure project work complies with applicable standards, client requirements, internal procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate with licensed Professional Engineers when engineering judgment, design certification, or sealed deliverables are required.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for clients and internal leadership on assigned projects.
  • Mentor project team members and help improve project delivery processes.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in engineering, infrastructure, facilities, construction, manufacturing, utilities, capital projects, or a related technical environment.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification, or equivalent EIT/FE credential required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex technical projects, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, documentation, and client communication.
  • Strong understanding of engineering project workflows, technical coordination, design processes, project controls, and construction or implementation support.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and coordinate with engineers, designers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders.
  • Ability to review and understand technical drawings, specifications, reports, schedules, cost information, and project documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with project management and business software such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, or similar tools.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is not required for this position. This role does not serve as Engineer of Record or require the employee to sign, seal, or approve engineering documents where PE licensure is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional certification or formal project management training.
  • Experience with project financial management, earned value, forecasting, or resource planning.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, design review processes, permitting coordination, and construction-phase support.
