Interested in working with senior-level environmental science and engineering professionals at an established A/E firm? We are looking for an Environmental Scientist Intern to join our team in Indianapolis, IN and for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), regional DOTs and federal agencies.

B&N Environmental Scientist Intern Responsibilities:

  • Help Prepare National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and supporting studies for transportation and other civil engineering projects
  • Learn Clean Water Act (CWA) 404/401 permitting
  • Assist ecological field surveys including stream and wetland delineation, habitat evaluations and associated reporting
  • Read, analyze, and interpret plan sheets, technical procedures, government regulations and industry standards

Skills and Qualifications:

  • You are a current student in good academic standing pursuing an Environmental Science, Biology, or Ecology degree from an ABET accredited college or university and have completed at least one year of your undergraduate degree
  • Related coursework in ecology, wetland delineation preferred
  • Microsoft Office and ArcGIS experience required
  • Self-motivated and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and detail oriented
  • Willingness to work in at team setting both in the office and in the field (50% in office/50% field work)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach and lift 50 lbs
