Begin your career working with some of the top MEP engineering experts in the industry. Burgess & Niple is looking for a summer 2026 Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in Norfolk.

B&N Mechanical Engineering Intern Responsibilities:

  • Work with our project team, collaborate and learn from experienced professional engineers locally and throughout the firm
  • Assist engineers with project scoping, preliminary plan design and final design tasks
  • Develop construction plans, perform engineering calculations, and participate in construction administration and commissioning tasks to support engineering teams
  • Support experienced engineers on MEP projects for HVAC and plumbing design/analysis

Skills & Qualifications:

  • You are a current student in good academic standing pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program and have completed at least two years of your undergraduate degree
  • You have a strong interest in transportation HVAC and plumbing engineering; previous internships are a plus
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite. Experience using CADD programs and knowledge of HVAC load programs is a plus
