Begin your career working with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that values employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for a Civil Engineer Co-op, Transportation, to join our team in Columbus.
B&N Civil Engineer Co-op, Transportation Responsibilities:
- Work with a team of experienced civil engineers to develop preliminary studies and construction plans on innovative transportation projects in Ohio
- Gain an understanding of roadway engineering design elements by assisting with calculating cost estimates, developing transportation plans, and utilizing geometric design techniques
- Develop CAD knowledge and plan production skills from Professional Engineers while becoming familiar with the consulting engineering community’s role in creating and enhancing the transportation systems of Ohio
- Learn the basics of industry specific 3D modeling design software
- Maintain quality control of the work products and successfully complete assigned tasks on time and within budget
Skills & Qualifications:
- You are a current student in good academic standing pursuing a degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and have completed at least one year of your undergraduate degree
- You have a strong interest in transportation engineering; previous co-ops are a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Proficiency or interest in learning PDF markup/review tools, such as BlueBeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil3D drawing software packages is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, learn, and grow
- Availability to work full-time Summer 2026 Semester
Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 30 – 40 hours per week. Housing and transportation to/from work is the responsibility of the co-op, parking is provided.
