B&N is seeking a civil/environmental/water resources engineer or ecological or ecological professional with experience in wetland and stream restoration design to collaborate on environmental projects with our experienced team of technical professionals in Columbus, OH.

B&N Stream & Wetland Restoration Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Lead/Manage stream and wetland restoration design projects
  • Field investigations, including but not limited to stream assessments, wetland delineations, vegetation surveys, and construction review
  • Conduct project pursuit activities including marketing, proposal development, grant funding assistance, and attending/presenting at conferences
  • Stream and wetland restoration design, project/construction drawings using CAD software
  • Stream and wetland assessment, monitoring, and construction oversight in the field
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations and industry standards
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies
  • Out of town/state travel will be required within the Midwestern U.S.

 Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Ecological Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration, preferred
  • 8+ years of related experience with a strong background in stream and wetland restoration design
  • Familiarity with riparian corridor assessment and ecological restoration applying stream restoration practices including native plantings, natural channel design, floodplain reconnection and other best practices appropriate for given site conditions
  • Microsoft Office, GIS, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D (or other professional CAD software), and Rivermorph experience required
  • Training: Rosgen Level II or higher preferred
  • Experience with natural channel design based on Rosgen classification system
  • Hydraulic modeling experience a plus
  • Self-motivated and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain 
  • Ability to travel up to 10-20% of time, including overnight stays
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
