Burgess & Niple is looking for a Geospatial Solutions Developer to join our team. As a leader in architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental services, we are committed to integrating cutting-edge applications and technologies to deliver on our vision of creating a better tomorrow. This interdisciplinary position plays a critical role in assessing different cloud solutions to meet client needs, migrating data, creating seamless data connections between various software, developing APIs, and administering databases.

B&N Geospatial Solutions Developer Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and recommend cloud solutions based on client requirements.
  • Plan and execute data migration from on-premises or other cloud solutions to the chosen cloud platform.
  • Develop and implement solutions to ensure seamless data connections between various software (e.g., ArcGIS, Bentley, AutoCAD).
  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs for use by staff and clients, facilitating efficient data access and integration.
  • Manage and administer various databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability.
  • Perform routine maintenance, backups, and troubleshooting of database systems.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 2+ years of related development experience using Python, SQL and/or JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure or AWS)
  • Experience with the ArcGIS SDK, preferred
  • Experience developing and managing rest endpoints and APIs
  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, PostGIS)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
