Bridge Design Engineer, Entry Level

Join our nationally recognized team of bridge design, inspection and rehabilitation professionals supporting projects across the country, ranging from small local projects to major river crossings.

B&N Bridge Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of a Professional Engineer, perform engineering calculations and plan preparation for bridge design and rehabilitation projects including analysis and design of complex structures
  • Design retaining walls and culverts, review shop drawings and perform bridge hydraulic analysis occasionally
  • Collaborate with Professional Engineers, project managers and bridge design experts to continue your career growth, including development with plan review and CAD skills

Interested applicants will have the opportunity to be trained to perform bridge field inspection, including the use of rope access techniques. However, field work is not a requirement for this position.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in civil engineering is required or ability to obtain within 6 months; Master’s degree with a structural focus preferred
  • Engineer – in – Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 0-4 years of related experience and thorough understanding of engineering principles is required
  • Familiarity with steel design, concrete design, and prestressed concrete design; finite element analysis a plus
  • Microsoft Office and CAD experience required, Bentley MicroStation preferred
  • Strong interpersonal & written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, including the capability to learn virtual collaboration tools
