Responsibilities

Interested in working with some of the top transportation experts in the industry? As an industry leader of innovative design, Burgess & Niple routinely studies and implements the latest transportation solutions for our clients. We are looking for an experienced Roadway Engineer to join our Boise, ID office working on projects for ITD and/or local agencies.

What you can expect as the major duties and responsibilities:

  • As part of the project team, you design projects for roadway and highway projects including horizontal and vertical geometry, roadside design, drainage, grading, surface modeling, cross sections, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and construction details
  • You will serve as a coach and mentor to younger staff, providing design and plan production training and growing their skills
  • Provide or move into project management, leading projects in our Idaho office for ITD and local government agencies
  • Actively participate in project meetings to provide an outstanding client experience for the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and local government agencies

You may be a good fit if you have these skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Idaho PE registration or ability to be registered through reciprocity
  • 5 -10 years of related roadway design experience required, prefer candidates with prior experience leading design for or managing ITD projects
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Project Management experience a plus
  • Software proficiency with Microsoft Office, working knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCad required, Civil 3D/ Bentley OpenRoads is a plus
