Burgess & Niple is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) to join our Texas Transportation team in Austin or San Antonio as a Project Manager–Roadway Engineer. This position provides the opportunity to lead and coordinate challenging transportation engineering projects with TxDOT, counties, and local agencies in the areas of highway and roadway design, complete streets, and active transportation (e.g. bicycle and pedestrian facilities).

B&N Project Manager-Roadway Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Actively plan and manage roadway and transportation engineering projects for public agencies including TxDOT, counties, authorities, and municipalities
  • Create an exemplary client experience throughout project delivery
  • Maintain oversight of project planning and production efforts consistent with B&N’s delivery process
  • Lead and assist with the development of project statements of qualifications and proposals, including participating in oral interviews and presentations when needed
  • Lead quality review processes to produce deliverables meeting client standards and preferences
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring for developing staff
  • Collaborate with professional engineers within B&N’s Texas operations and across the firm
  • Represent B&N in meetings, marketing functions, and conferences
  • Participate in strategic business planning for our Texas Transportation operations, development of client relationship assignments, and assessment of new business opportunities
  • Contribute towards B&N’s Texas Transportation marketing strategy that focuses on providing excellent repeat services to our current clients and expanding our client base throughout the state

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program 
  • Texas PE registration or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Background and familiarity with roadway engineering software
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team environment
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to evolving client, project, and industry needs
