AFMC Honors Toxicology Lab With Second Award
COLUMBUS, Ohio – On October 4, 2004, B&N received an Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Honor Award for the design of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Toxicology Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio. This is the second award B&N has received through the United States Air Force Design Award Program. In 2003, B&N received an AFMC Merit Award for Interior Design of this facility.
Completed in 2003, the Toxicology Laboratory is one of the leading national centers for Consolidated Toxicology Hazards Research for the U.S. Air Force and Navy, and Army. The new facility includes a new two-story, 48,000-gross-square-foot building and renovated laboratory.
Burgess & Niple partnered with Messer Construction for this $13 million laboratory based upon a Request for Proposal prepared by A. M. Kinney. The building has office space for more than 130 people and contains 30 different laboratories. The laboratories are arranged to provide secure access while allowing the office areas to be open, taking advantage of the full height windows and skylights.
