B&N President Terrence Sack Dies in April 16 Plane Crash
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Burgess & Niple (B&N) President Terry Sack, 61, died in a small plane crash while on vacation in Florida on Monday, April 16.
Terry was piloting his own aircraft and crashed short of the runway in Lakeland, Florida. Terry’s only passenger, Roger Caldwell, 56, husband of B&N employee Mary Caldwell, also died in the crash. Terry and Roger were on route to an air show in Florida. At this time, the cause of the crash is unknown.
“This is a very sad loss for B&N,” commented Burgess & Niple Chairman Ron Schultz. “Terry was an intelligent and thoughtful leader. He placed personal and professional integrity above all else.”
Terry Sack joined Burgess & Niple in 1968. An Owner of the firm, Terry was elected President in the year 2000. He held a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Cleveland State University and a Masters in Public Management from Case Western Reserve University.
Terry’s project management and design expertise included water and wastewater facilities, highways, sanitary and storm sewers, and landfills. As President of Burgess & Niple, Terry initiatied the firm’s highly-regarded professional development program, Beacon Leadership Development. B&N employees selected for this program participate in advanced project management and leadership workshops designed to further strengthen the firm and the individual talent that collectively drives B&N’s success.
Aircraft passenger Roger Caldwell of Blacklick, Ohio, was a personal friend of Terry Sack and the husband of B&N employee Mary Caldwell. Terry and Roger were on route to the Sun ‘N Fun Fly-In, a civilian air show, in Florida. The plane crashed as they attempted to land at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport.
