Local, State and Federal Groundwater Reviews

B&N’s Phoenix office is providing groundwater reviews on the local, state and federal levels.

Goodyear Master Water Resources Plan
With a projected 16-18% annual increase in population over the next 20-30 years, the City of Goodyear, Arizona, needed a plan to meet its growing water needs. B&N was hired by the City to develop a master water plan. A variety of services were provided for the project, including the preparation of water resource and development components for a 10-year capital improvement plan, and conducting information workshops with City staff and Council.

The final master water plan was approved by the Goodyear City Council in November 2004 following a presentation at the City of Goodyear Water Conference in October 2004. The final plan is the first of its kind in the State of Arizona. The project manager and author of the document is Shirlee Rhodes.

ACWR Groundwater Budget Review
B&N was retained by the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to review the Pinal Active Management Area’s (AMA) groundwater budget from the years 1980 to 2002. The results are posted on the ADWR’s website (www.water.az.gov/publications). Dr. Shuyun Liu and Shirlee Rhodes managed this project.

PGA North Superfund Groundwater Modeling Technical Team
The Environmental Protection Agency has requested B&N’s Dr. Shuyun Liu, a leading expert in numeric analysis of groundwater systems, represent the City of Goodyear on the Phoenix Goodyear Airport (PGA) North Superfund Groundwater Modeling Technical Team. The team was established to create a groundwater model designed to simulate groundwater conditions at the Superfund site including a 225-square-mile area surrounding the project site.
