Burgess & Niple (B&N) is serving as the technical advisor for the SR 2 & Larrison Boulevard New Interchange project in St. Joseph County, Indiana. The project is being delivered using the Progressive Design-Build (PDB) method, which enables early collaboration between design and construction teams to support innovation, improve constructability and proactively manage risk, cost and schedule.
Technical Advisory Leadership Under Progressive Design Build
In its advisory role, B&N supports the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) through procurement of the Design-Build team and manages the preliminary design and preconstruction phase to guide the Design-Build team toward a guaranteed maximum price (GMP). B&N will continue providing technical advisory services through construction completion.
Preliminary Design and Alternative Evaluation
The project involves development of a new interchange, with preliminary design focused on evaluating multiple alternatives to identify an optimized solution that balances performance, cost and long-term constructability.
Multidisciplinary Technical Oversight
B&N provides comprehensive technical oversight across roadway design, hydraulics, bridge design, environmental permitting, maintenance of traffic and utility coordination to support coordinated project development and early risk mitigation. Independent cost estimating and early utility identification have been integral to improving cost certainty and informing design decisions.
