The City of Hamilton, Ohio, required a clear and reliable understanding of the condition of its large-diameter storm sewer system along a critical corridor but faced the challenge of managing complex inspection data and translating it into actionable insights. The project team addressed this need by performing a comprehensive LDCA using standardized NASSCO methods and advanced technologies. All inspection data, media and defect coding were integrated into an accessible GIS-based dashboard, providing the city with a centralized, intuitive tool to support maintenance planning and long-term infrastructure decisions.
Following structure inspections, CCTV evaluations were conducted on all connected sewer pipes. Video data was processed through PipeAId, which automatically analyzed and coded defects in accordance with NASSCO PACP standards, providing consistent and objective condition ratings.
A key deliverable was an interactive GIS dashboard that allows users to visualize inspection locations, review defect severity, access linked media and explore recommended improvements, creating a one-stop shop of streamlined workflow for system evaluation and decision-making.
