For more than a decade, the Clark County-Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee (CCSTCC) has relied on consistent, forward-looking planning support to advance safe, multimodal transportation investments across Clark County and surrounding communities. B&N has served as the planning general engineering consultant, providing trusted guidance to help local agencies move projects from concepts to implementable solutions.
A Long-Term Planning Partner
Since 2015, B&N has worked closely with CCSTCC staff on more than 50 planning and preliminary engineering projects. This work has been completed in coordination with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 and in partnership with the City of Springfield, City of Urbana, Clark County, Logan County, Champaign County and other local officials and stakeholders. B&N’s role has focused on aligning transportation safety, accessibility and multimodal connectivity with community goals and available funding.
Multimodal, Safety-Driven Solutions
Across the program, B&N has delivered corridor and intersection studies, trail and active transportation planning, ADA assessments and bridge studies. Each effort emphasized practical recommendations, stakeholder coordination and readiness for future implementation.
Representative projects include:
- Limestone Street Corridor Study (Springfield, Ohio)
Evaluated a road diet to calm traffic, create space for parking and enhance pedestrian facilities, including ADA improvements and safety enhancements at uncontrolled crossings and a regional trail crossing. - Simon Kenton Trail Extension (Springfield, Ohio)
Studied a separated shared-use path connection to close a critical gap where trail users previously shared travel lanes with vehicles, strengthening regional trail connectivity. - Logan County Trail Study
Identified potential routes for a 20-mile trail linking Bellefontaine to Indian Lake, supporting access to a major recreational destination. - Main Street Curb Ramp Assessment (New Carlisle, Ohio)
Provided ADA assessments, cost estimates and rehabilitation planning to prepare the community for required upgrades in advance of a planned ODOT paving project. - St Paris Trail Connector (St Paris, Ohio)
Evaluated multiple alternatives and phased project approaches along a 14-mile abandoned rail corridor to provide a western connection to a future trail extension of the Great Miami Trail near the Miami County Line and an eastern connection to the Simon Kenton Trail in Urbana. - South High Street Study (Urbana, Ohio)
Developed a multimodal corridor concept featuring sidewalks, traffic calming, bicycle accommodations and intersection enhancements to improve safety and connectivity.
Advancing Regional Transportation Goals
Through its role as Planning GEC, B&N has helped CCSTCC and its partner communities make informed decisions, pursue funding, and advance projects that improve safety, accessibility and quality of life across the region.
