Many public agencies use GIS for field inspections, maintenance tracking, dashboards and operational decision-making, but these tools often evolve as separate workflows rather than a connected asset management program. This case study will share how the Miami Conservancy District (MCD) and B&N used ArcGIS Enterprise as the foundation for a right-sized asset management roadmap. MCD engaged B&N as part of their effort to expand how GIS could better connect flood protection asset inspections, maintenance needs, operational status and long-term program management.

Using floodgates as a practical example, the presentation will discuss how the team evaluated existing workflows, identified opportunities to strengthen those workflows and developed a phased implementation path within the Esri ecosystem. Attendees will learn a repeatable planning process for assessing GIS-based asset workflows and turning disconnected tools into a more integrated asset management program.

Maps, dashboards, PDFs and web applications are often the primary way agencies share GIS information with the public, but these products are not always accessible to all users. This workshop gives GIS professionals a practical starting point for making digital deliverables more accessible and compliant.

Using common GIS examples, the session will explain key Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Section 508 concepts and show how accessibility can be built into everyday workflows, from color contrast and map symbology to alternative text, semantic document structure, keyboard-friendly navigation and accessible exports.
