Panel 3C
This session addresses the environmental and economic challenges posed by illegal dumping, featuring regulations, enforcement strategies, community engagement and cleanup programs to protect properties and natural resources. A panel of experts, including representatives from the Cuyahoga County Land Bank, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Department of Development, will share insights from the National Acme Site—a 24-acre brownfield in an environmental justice neighborhood plagued by illegal dumping and hazardous conditions.
Attendees will learn how to navigate complex environmental hurdles, leverage funding opportunities, and foster collaboration to resolve similar challenges in their communities, transforming problem sites into revitalized assets. This session will be moderated by Mary Mahaffee from the Ohio EPA with a panel of B&N's Tom Mignery, Ohio EPA's Megan Oravec and Cuyahoga County Land Bank's Adam Stalder.
