This presentation will discuss best practices for accommodating large trucks and oversized, overweight vehicles at roundabouts. Speakers will review recent design guidance updates, local design standards, and truck turn simulation tips. A brief comparison between truck accommodation practices by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the new NCHRP Report 1043: Guide for Roundabouts, and other major DOTS will be provided to bring awareness to the state of the practice. Lastly, this presentation will review several case studies of roundabouts in Ohio and Arizona to show attendees real-world solutions for accommodating large vehicles in roundabouts.
