Who will be evaluating the scholarship applications?
B&N’s internal Scholarship Board will review all scholarship applications using the following Judging Criteria:
i. Essay 50%: Responses must address the given essay topics and explain the applicant’s future education plans and career goals. Grammar and content organization will be taken into consideration.
ii. Merit 30%: Academic performance; internship, co-op and/or work experience in the engineering field; and a letter of recommendation.
iii. Leadership 20%: Extracurricular activities, community service/volunteer experience, and technical or professional organization involvement.

Will my application and supporting documents be kept confidential?
All information will be kept confidential. Your application and supporting documents will only be reviewed by the B&N Scholarship Board.
Who should write my letter of recommendation?
Letters of recommendation should be written by a professor/teacher, mentor, employer, or other person who has been involved in your pursuit of a career in the engineering field.
