Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority
Burgess & Niple (B&N) provided inspections, construction engineering, and quality assurance (QA) for facility improvements under a task-ordered contract for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA). MWAA manages and operates both Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airports.
B&N provided inspections, materials testing, and general plan conformance verification for construction projects at Dulles Airport, one of the world’s fastest-growing airports. B&N furnished QA services for a new $5-million emergency rescue facility and roadway network, and 40 acres of concrete runway crossover paving at Dulles International. B&N also worked on a $100-million twin parking structure.
The capital construction program encompasses a 6-year, $3.4-billion program at Dulles International. Some of the planned additions include a 10,000-foot runway, a new airline concourse, an automated people-mover system, and an airside pedestrian tunnel to connect the midfield concourse to the main terminal.
