City of Marion
B&N conducted preliminary traffic studies and prepared construction plan documents for Marion’s Citywide Signal Upgrading program. Upon completion of the program, all of the City’s 75 existing signals will be reconstructed. B&N’s traffic engineering staff has completed Phases one through four and will finish the program with the fifth and final phase. All plans have been prepared in conformance with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and City standards and guidelines. B&N also was responsible for coordinating project funding through ODOT’s Large Cities program.
Justification studies were conducted to include a computerized master control center and emergency vehicle preemption system. In addition to the existing signal upgrades, construction plans included the design of a traffic-responsive signal system, an underground fiber-optic communications system, and a link from the existing control system to the proposed control center.
