City of Athens Service Garage
B&N assisted the City of Athens, Ohio with an RCRA closure at a city-owned service garage. Working under consent orders from the Ohio EPA, the project included the investigation of soil and groundwater impacts associated with the facility which was identified as an RCRA unit.
A human health risk assessment was performed to determine cleanup standards. Soil and groundwater impacts from a former paint shop and a drain well/oil water separator located inside the maintenance garage were identified.
A delineation was completed to determine the extent of the release of chlorinated solvents into soil and groundwater. Remedial work included soil excavation and subsequent site improvements as well as groundwater chemical remediation verified through quarterly monitoring.
B&N coordinated with the Ohio EPA throughout the closure process. An approved Closure was received in February 2011 with no further comments from the EPA.
