Fairfax County, Virginia
The Fairfax County Adult Care Facility is a residential complex designed for the housing and care of mentally disabled citizens. The facility was designed to provide both individual administrative and common dining and social facilities. The site for the facility required rezoning to a district that would accommodate this use and the building size.
Burgess & Niple provided planning and preliminary engineering services during the initial stages of the site approval process, which included the preparation of a generalized development plan for submittal to Fairfax County in conjunction with the application to rezone the property. The initial site concepts were developed in close coordination with the architect.
Processing of the zoning application required coordination among the County agencies involved in developing the site, the agency that would actually operate the facility, and the County staff involved in review of the application.
