|Location:||Anderson Township, Ohio|
Burgess & Niple architects created a unique design to serve the multifaceted needs of the Anderson Township community. From government officials to emergency operations and local arts organizations, the building’s flexible interior spaces serve a broad range of local groups. The facility’s 300-acre park-like grounds feature walking trails, an amphitheater and a lake that serves as a detention basin, allowing the site to be maintained as a watershed.
Considerable care was taken to reduce the center’s impact on the environment. Sustainable components such as daylighting features, a duct system that recirculates warm air and a landscaping plan that requires no irrigation conserve energy and reduce operating costs. Anderson Lake helps mitigate wetlands loss and erosion and a Park & Ride station encourages public transit to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.
