CINCINNATI, Ohio – The B&N-designed Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center in Springfield, Ohio, received the top award in the Institutional Design category in Cincinnati Magazine’s Sixth Annual Interior Design Competition.
The Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center is a unique facility that utilizes an open style of teaching and learning to provide skill development and career technical education to students.
B&N was responsible for interior design, architectural design, civil design, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, and plumbing design. The B&N interior design team’s responsibilities included conceptual design, space planning, material selection and specifications, casework, lighting design, and furniture selection and specifications.
The existing 1960s building was designed for a “stand and deliver” approach to teaching, which became outdated. B&N designed renovations and additions at Springfield-Clark that totaled 16,000-square-feet in three distinct areas.
The project’s sustainable design features include daylighting throughout and the use of GREENGUARD Certified rubber flooring in the cafeteria.
The Cincinnati Magazine Interior Design Awards honor outstanding and innovative interior design in Cincinnati, Dayton and Northern Kentucky. The winners were announced on September 8, 2008, and will be featured in the December “Home & Garden” section of Cincinnati Magazine
