Session 33: New Developments in Partnering on Construction Projects
“ODOT Pilots Retooled Partnering Process on Rich Street Bridge Project”
B&N’s John Shanks, PE and Amy Rosepiler, PE will join ODOT’s Chuck Kiner, PE to showcase the landmark Rich Street Bridge in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The 563-foot modern rib arch structure features a one-of-a-kind design that required complex engineering and construction. Using ODOT’s retooled Partnering Process – which was piloted on this project – this $22 million construction project was completed with less than 2% change orders and no claims.

Session 56: Planning for Bicycles and Pedestrians
“Going Beyond the Sharrow – New Innovations in Bicycle Design and Programs”
New design opportunities from the AASHTO Bike Guide and NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide are giving communities a chance to revisit underutilized space within their roadway networks. This includes innovative designs such as contraflow bike lanes, green pavement, bicycle traffic signals, two-phase bike boxes and cycle tracks.
This presentation, given by B&N’s Brian Moore, PE, Dan Moeglin, PE from the City of Canton, Ohio and Heather Boden from ALTA Bicycle Share, will include examples of how these designs have been successfully applied.

“Protecting Public Investment: Proactive Approach for Major Bridges in WV”
The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is taking a proactive approach to rehabilitating major bridges. This presentation, given by B&N’s Matt Lewellyn, PE and WVDOT’s David Whited, will highlight seven major river crossings and the repair solutions for horizontal jacking of rocker bearings, corrosion mitigation on weathering steel, fatigue retrofits and materials overview.

Session 68: I-270/Roberts Road DDI Construction Bus Tour
“Ohio’s First Diverging Diamond Interchange”
Join B&N and ODOT for a bus tour of the first Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) in Ohio. Located at I-270 and Roberts Road, the DDI is an emerging and cost effective roadway solution designed to improve safety, reduce crashes and ease congestion. It is the 23rd DDI to be constructed in the United States and the first to include dedicated bike lanes.
